Sen. Annie Okonkwo, the National Assembly representative for Anambra Central Senatorial District, is died.
Annie, who was thought to be recuperating from illness, died on Wednesday, just a few weeks after his 63rd birthday.
From 2007 until 2011, he was a member of the sixth National Assembly.
His family has not issued an official comment.
According to the News Agency of Nigeria, the death of Okonkwo, a prominent businessman, has put his community, Ojoto, in Idemili South Local Government Area, into grief.
According to Tony Uche, a politician and community leader in Ojoto, Okonkwo's death was a major shock to the residents of Ojoto and the entire Idemili Area.
Mr Uche called the dead as a deserving son and philanthropist who affected many lives during his lifetime.
