An indecent WhatsApp status update led to the resignation of an aide from his appointment by Nasiru Idris, the Governor of Kebbi State.

Alhaji Babangida Sarki, the governor of Kebbi's special adviser on youths, has been fired as a result of an inappropriate WhatsApp status he posted.

The news of his firing is contained in a statement released on Monday in Birnin Kebbi, which was signed by the Governor's Chief Press Secretary, Ahmed Idris.

According to the Daily Trust, the statement reads, “The governor, who was enraged by the obnoxious development, said the aide trampled on the moral and social ethos of the Kebbi society, which is largely Islamic.”

“Idris promised that his administration would not condone any of such acts that denigrate the morality and integrity of the people of the state.”

Ahmed Idris, the spokesman of the governor, said the governor has warned all the state's public officers to avoid making such indecent posts that contain nudity on their social media handles and any other public forums.
