Grief in Jigawa as a 30-year-old man hanged himself to Death

Hanged by Rope

Usman Sanigoga, 30, of Akula Quarters in Jigawa's Babura Local Government Area, hanged himself.

Mr Adamu Shehu, spokesman for the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) in Jigawa, stated this in Dutse on Thursday.

He claimed that Sanigoga's wife discovered him hanging from the ceiling in their bedroom as she returned from a social visit on Wednesday.

He went on to say that the spouse said that Sanigoga, a photographer, left her off at a relative's residence on Wednesday around 2 p.m. with the promise of returning in the evening to take her home.

She contacted his cell phone numerous times after waiting and he did not show up, so she decided to take a commercial motorcycle back home.

She went on to say that she encountered the house under lock and key and enlisted the help of a commercial biker to scale the fence and unlock the main entrance.

According to DailyTrust,“Upon opening the door, she saw her husband’s motorcycle parked in an unusual manner. She hurried inside where she met his body hanging from the ceiling of their bedroom.

“She lost consciousness and passed out at the horrific sight and it was the motorcyclist who shouted for help before neighbours rushed to the scene,’’ she told the NSCDC.

The body was taken to a hospital, where a doctor pronounced Sanigoga dead on arrival.

According to Shehu, Sanigoga's close companions informed the NSCDC that he had a recurring mental condition.

According to neighbors, the couple married around four months ago and had been living happily together before the event.

While the dead was buried according to Islamic traditions, the NSCDC initiated a new inquiry into the case.
