Lagos court remands five people for robbery and illegal possession of arms

Tuesday, a Lagos State Ogba Magistrates' Court in the Ikeja district remanded five individuals for robbery and weapon possession.

The defendants, Saheed Ganiyu, 30, Iyanuoluwa Delight, 23, Azeez Adekunle, 21, Hamed Femi, 23, and Jimoh Adejobi, 20, were remanded in the Kirikiri Custodial Center.

Inspector Felicia Okwori, a police prosecutor, informed the court that the defendants committed the crimes on February 3, 2023.

The charge read in part, “That you, Saheed Ganiyu, Azeez Adekunle, Hamed Femi, Jimoh Adejobi, Iyanuoluwa Delight and others now at large on February 3, 2023, between 2pm and 4pm along the Abeokuta Expressway by Alakuko Bus-Stop in the Ikeja Magisterial District did conspire among yourselves to commit felony to wit armed robbery and thereby committed an offence contrary to and punishable under Section 299 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2015.”

The pleas of the defendants were not accepted by Magistrate H. B. Magaji.

It was postponed until June 23, 2023.
