SSS warns those who plan to disrupt the May 29 inauguration after uncovering their plans

DSS Operatives

Plans by subversive groups to obstruct the May 29 inauguration and other events in several parts of the country have been discovered by the State Security Service (SSS).

This was mentioned in a statement released on Thursday in Abuja by Dr. Peter Afunanya, the SSS's public relations officer.

He claims that their objective is to disrupt the security authorities' attempts to ensure peaceful ceremonies and to instill fear and terror among the populace.

“Based on these, citizens, the media and Civil Society Organisations are advised to adhere strictly to security and civil protocols during the events.

“They are also urged to shun fake news, false alarms, skewed reportage/narratives and sensationalism that may likely inflame division, tension and violence prior to and after the exercises,” he said.

Unwanted behavior, according to the DSS spokesman, would only help to undermine the country's unity and cohesion.

Mr. Afunanya issued a warning to unauthorized and unaccredited people to avoid restricted and specifically specified areas at the inauguration grounds.

In order to ensure effective inauguration celebrations across the country, he urged the public to maintain peace and follow the law. He added that the SSS would continue to work in conjunction with sister agencies.
