Seun Kuti, the son of the legendary Afrobeat musician Fela Anikulapo Kuti, has flown to Zurich, Switzerland, to begin his European tour.

The musician uploaded a photo of himself on the flight on Thursday via Instagram Stories.

After being ordered to be arrested for assaulting a police officer in Lagos, the singer went to the headquarters of the Lagos Police Command.

The State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) then took custody of him after a Lagos magistrate's court mandated his remand.

The police had asked for a court order to detain him in detention for an additional 21 days while they finished their investigation.

However, the police were told by the court to hold Kuti for an extra 48 hours before releasing him on bond.

To allow the police to complete their investigation, the magistrate last Thursday extended the musician's detention for an extra four days.

She also directed that a duplicate of his file be made and forwarded to the Director of Public Prosecution (DPP), after which the trial was postponed until May 22.

But Tuesday was chosen as the new date for the trial.

But on Tuesday, the magistrates' court was not in session.
