Senator Ali Ndume representing Borno South District has declared his intention to contest the $800 million loan requested by President Muhammadu Buhari's administration.
The loan was sought by the President to finance the National Social Safety Network Programme, which aims to assist the most vulnerable citizens following the removal of the petrol subsidy.
Expressing his views during an interview on Trust TV's Daily Politics, Ndume criticized the loan, deeming it "unconstitutional and unfair."
He emphasized his resolve to take the matter to court, highlighting the unjust nature of the loan. Using a hypothetical scenario, he explained that if two people were in a studio and one million was borrowed, it would be unfair to determine how the amount would be divided.
Additionally, Ndume argued that it was inappropriate for all Nigerians to bear the burden of repayment when only a select few were benefiting from the loan.
The senator further criticized the government's approach, accusing them of using convoluted language to deceive President Buhari, who may not fully comprehend the intricacies.
He expressed his belief that the administration's primary focus was on personal gain rather than the welfare of the Nigerian people.
Ndume challenged any of his colleagues to debate him on television, confident in his ability to clarify his stance and expose what he considered to be misleading tactics used to manipulate the President.
