Breaking: Kano State Government has declared Phone Hijacking as armed robbery

Phone theft has been classified as an armed robbery by the Kano State Security Council, and anyone found perpetrating it would face the same penalties as a robber.

This was revealed in a statement Malam Muhammad Garba, the departing Commissioner for Information and Home Affairs, gave to the media in Kano.

During a meeting, the council headed by departing governor Abdullahi Umar Ganduje declared that phone confiscation has reached an all-time high and has become widespread, necessitating the adoption of stringent measures.

The council decided to form a special team within the security system to address the issues that are occurring in the state, according to the statement.

He claimed that Governor Abdullahi Umar Ganduje called for a peaceful ceremony and emphasized the importance of a peaceful transfer of power in the state at the meeting.

"The commissioner added that the council while discussing the swearing-in of the new governor said that all the necessary measures have been taken to ensure that the celebrations are held safely and warned that the bad guys will use this opportunity to cause violence. in the name of the festival, they should refrain from doing so. said the statement.

"We will not accept the destruction of public property, people or the opposition because adequate measures have been taken to deal with all those who come with this behavior."

He commended the state's security forces for their unwavering collaboration during his administration and asked them to keep up the pace.

Nearly all of the leaders of the security agencies and other members of the parliament attended the conference.
