Nigeria's Communications Commission approved harmonized USSD codes for MTN Nigeria, Airtel Nigeria, Glo Nigeria, and 9mobile Nigeria services.
The Nigeria Communications Commission, an independent regulatory authority for Nigeria's telecommunications industry, has already established a deadline for existing telecom services using their own old short USSD codes.
Telecommunication companies were asked to fully integrate all those NCC-approved USSD codes before May 17, 2023.

This progressive move will benefit ordinary Nigerians by allowing them to use decentralized USSD codes for the same functions (such as loading airtime, buying data, checking balance, calling the call center, etc.) across all networks.
However, the commission approved only 13 common and easy-to-use short codes for the daily routine of over 226 million active mobile lines across the country.
Personally, I think this new well-implemented regulation is really an effort to modernize and simplify the country's telecom consumers’ lives by making it amazingly easier.
Unfortunately, I am not fan of lengthy chat-up, so, let’s dive right inside those codes and get to know them.
New MTN Call Center Number
If you want to make a call to MTN Nigeria’s call center, you don’t have to dial the old and outdated number 180; instead, use this:
Dial 300 and press the call button.
Your call will be answered immediately by a representative from their company.
New Airtel Nigeria Call Center Number
Despite the fact that Airtel does not offer free customer service like its competitor (MTN's zero-cost call center), they do have their own old and, yes, outdated call center number, which is 111.
Instead of dialing 111 if you live in Nigeria, try this:
Dial 300 and press the call button.
If your line is recharged, a representative from their company will answer your call and assist you with your problem.
New 9mobile Nigeria Call Center Number
If you have a 9mobile sim card, the old customer service number is 200; if you have another network, the number is 08090000200.
However, 200 will become inactive in the coming weeks, so try this:
Dial 300 and press the call button.
Their representative will attend to your call and assist you with your problem.
New Glo Nigeria Call Center Number
Glo’s old customer care number is 0805 002 0121.

New MTN Nigeria Borrow Code
MTN Nigeria offers a service called "MTN XtraTime and XtraByte" that allows customers to borrow airtime credit and data when they run out of airtime and can't recharge immediately because they don’t have money to recharge or simply don’t have access to the recharge card vendor or their bank accounts don’t have enough balance to recharge from.
Previously, to borrow airtime on MTN Nigeria, you could only dial *606#, but now that code is outdated, which is why you should try this new NCC-approved harmonized code:
- Dial *303# and press the call button.
- Select "XtraTime or XtraByte" from the menu options.
- Select the amount of airtime or data you wish to borrow and confirm the transaction.
- You will receive a message confirming the airtime or data has been credited to your account.
New Airtel Nigeria Borrow Code
If you are an Airtel prepaid customer and you run out of credit, you can use the "Airtel Borrow Credit" service to get a loan of Airtel credit on your sim line instantly.
But we all know that this borrow credit service is for eligible customers.
The default Airtel Nigeria borrowing short code is *500#. But starting from May 17, these codes will stop functioning.
That’s why it's probably a good idea to try these new NCC-approved airtime borrowing short codes:
- Dial *303# on your Airtel line.
- Select "Borrow Credit" from the menu options.
- Choose the amount of credit you want to borrow (there may be a limit based on your usage history) and confirm the transaction.
- You will receive a message confirming the airtime has been credited to your line.
Keep in mind that the borrowed credit and a service charge will be deducted from your next recharge.
New 9Mobile Nigeria Borrow Code
9mobile Nigeria (formerly Etisalat) offers a service that allows its subscribers to borrow airtime or data when they run out of it.
Previously, by dialing *665#, we could borrow airtime or data on our 9Mobile line.
But after NCC issued new harmonized ussd codes for all networks, 9mobile borrowing code has changed and all users should embrace this new borrowing code, so try this:
- Dial *303# on your 9mobile line.
- Select the "Borrow Credit" or "Borrow Data" option depending on what you want to borrow.
- Follow the prompts to choose the amount of credit or data you want to borrow.
- Confirm the transaction by entering your PIN.
Once your request is successful, the borrowed credit or data will be credited to your account, and you can use it immediately.
New Glo Nigeria Borrow Code
Prepaid clients of Glo have access to a borrowing facility that enables them to borrow airtime credit when their account balance is insufficient.
Previously, you could borrow airtime credit for your Glo line by calling *321#.
But, the borrow code changed to this after NCC released new, short, and decentralized USSD codes for all networks. Try it:
- On your Glo line, dial *303#.
- Choose "Borrow Credit" from the menu.
- Choose how much airtime credit you wish to borrow
- Confirm your selection by following the provided prompts, after that the borrowed amount will be credited to your line instantly.
But keep this in your mind that the borrowed credit and service fee will be deducted from your next recharge.
NEW STOP SERVICE CODE (VAS)
We used MTN, Airtel, 9mobile, and Glo services to subscribe to gaming services, video services, streaming services, Prime services, religious services, Apple Music services, CallerTunes, and others.
But what if we no longer need to continue subscribing to those services? Each and every service provider has its own USSD code to cancel subscriptions.
But with the help of the NCC’s new and approved harmonized stop service (VAS) code, everything will be simple.
We’ll be using the same USSD code on all networks in Nigeria.
So, here is how to stop those services according to their respective networks:
MTN Stop Service Code 2023
MTN Nigeria has its own USSD code, which you can dial to stop a service on your line.
Their code is *447#, but it is now outdated.
That’s why you should use this:
- Dial *305# and press the call button.
- You will receive a list of all the services that are active on your line.
- Kidly follow the provided prompts to select the service you want to stop, and then confirm to stop it.
- Finally, you will receive a message to confirm that the service has been successfully stopped.
That’s it.
Airtel Nigeria New Stop Service Code
Are you an Airtel Nigeria user and want to unsubscribe from some subscriptions that you’re subscribing to on your line in 2023? Then kindly follow these steps to use the new Airtel harmonized stop service provided by NCC.
The default Airtel stop service code is *567#, but it is now outdated.
To stop service on your line, use this:
- Dial *305# and press the call button.
- You will receive a list of all the services that are active on your line.
- Kidly follow the provided prompts to select the service you want to stop, and then confirm to stop it.
- Finally, you will receive a message to confirm that the service has been successfully stopped.
