Bandits kill Birnin Gwari’s traditional ruler and his four sons, then rustle his 100 cows

The traditional leader of Birnin Gwari and its surrounding area, Shuaibu Mohammaed, who is ruling under the emirate of Zazzau, together with his four children, were murdered by suspected bandits and cow rustlers.

The incident happened on Saturday night around 10 p.m. in the village of Dorayi, Zaria Local Government Area, Kaduna.

Additionally, the bandits rustled his 100 cows after they muddied him and his sons.

The deceased ruler’s wife, Malama Halima Shu'aibu, told the newsmen after the funeral of her family that the bandits shot her husband in the head.

According to Daily Nigerian, she said “Ardo was brought out of his bedroom and shot twice on his head, and he died instantly.

“The bandits went from room-to-room in the compound and killed my four children who are married with children.

“The victims are Adamu Shuaibu, Musa Shuaibu, Abubakar Shuaibu and Ibrahim Haruna.

“After attacking the compound, they also went away with over 100 of our cows.” 

Abdurrahman Shuaibu, the only survivor of the attack among the children of Ardo, claimed that the robbers shot two further villagers as they fled the village.

DSP Mohammed Jalige, the state police command's spokeswoman, said he had not yet received a briefing on the event when called.
